Oyama Isthmus - New Map! Kelowna
October 1st 2025 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Organizer: David Bakker (Event Director)
Map: Oyama Ithsmus
Overview
Welcome to our Kelowna fall training series through September and into early October! These low-key orienteering activities will happen every Wednesday evening at 6:00pm at a different location in the Kelowna area. There will be both beginner and advanced courses, so there is something for everyone and their family.
Terrain
This is a brand new map, and has a mix of parks, schools, and quiet urban streets. The beginner course will have a few road crossings, but will largely stay off the roads. The advanced course will have some longer routehoices running on urban roads. Wear footwear where you don't mind running on cut grass and pavement. Full leg cover is optional, as almost all legs will not involve any running through brush.
Meeting Location
In the parking lot of the Oyama Traditional School. We do not have access to the school building, but there are public washrooms just down the road on the rail trail.
Bring a headlight and wear bright clothing!
Registration
If you registered for the fall training series once, you are good to show up without registering for subsequent weeks (assuming you are a member).
If you are a Sage Orienteering Club member or a visiting member of another club, then register once for the fall series and participate in as many as you can! If you already registered for a previous event in this series, you're good to go. If you registered for the spring series, your membership is still valid, but please register for the fall series event so we know you are coming!
Please register as soon as possible, and no later than Tuesday evening, the night before the activity, so that we know roughly how many participants to expect and can print enough maps. We will print a few extra maps, so if you don't register in time we may still have a map for you.
Cost
- No cost to Sage Orienteering Club members
- $5 for visitors from other Canadian and international orienteering clubs
- $5 per event for day-of-event participants to try it out before getting a club membership
We try and keep costs to a bare minimum while still paying for insurance and map printing. Everybody here is a volunteer doing our best.
