Map: Bata

Overview

The ribbons are still out from Thursday night's training at Bata for the next week up on Bata FSR. If you want to head out and check out this hidden gem of a trail system and forest, register here to download a PDF, print your own map, and head on out anytime you like in the next while the ribbons are still up!

Parking Location

A few kilometres up the well maintained Bata forest service road - see map pin location at the bottom of the page.

There are no public washroom facilities anywhere in the vicinity, although the entire map has good cell service. There is a lovely, hidden trail network here!

Courses

Two courses are available a beginner course (which is challenging for a beginner course) and an Advanced course (which is also pretty challenging for an advanced course). These are not for complete newcomers to orienteering.

Controls are marked with orange flagging tape with silver striping attached to clothespins. Be aware that some control markers might go missing over the course of the week, especially those on more heavily used trails. If you're sure that you're in the right place but don't see one, this could be why.

The courses will be up until the end of Friday, May 9.

Registration

Registration is at the following Interpodia 2M Events link:

Cost

  • No cost to Sage Orienteering Club members
  • $5 for visitors from other Canadian and international orienteering clubs
  • $5 per event for day-of-event participants to try it out before getting a club membership
