Organizers: Phil Wallensteen (Event Director), Yenny Connor (Membership)
Map: Park Hill
Description:
The first of a beginner friendly fall training series in Salmon Arm! We will meet at the Park Hill parking lot just off Park Hill Road above Canoe Beach. Three different traditional point to point courses will be offered to suit all ages and abilities. Please sign up on this page so we know to print a map for you. A limited number of excess maps will be printed, but you will not be guaranteed a map if you do not sign up online.
Park Hill has a beautiful trail system of wide trails with a mix of thick and open forest. There are lots of contours and some of the most contour detail in the Salmon Arm area. Wear light pants and a long sleeve shirt to avoid getting scratched.
Schedule:
6:00 - Registration opens and firsts starts
6:45 - Last Start
7:30 - Courses Close, all participants must report to the finish
Safety Considerations:
Roads: There is one road that crosses through the middle of the map. Please ensure that the road is clear before you cross it.
Wasp Nests: There are some wasp nests present in Park Hill. If you here a buzz, do not stick around!
Wildlife: It is unlikely that large wildlife will be present in Park Hill, however it is possible. If you see a large dangerous animal, please go straight to the finish and report it.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for:
- Helping out with registration (please arrive a few minutes early)
- Introducing newcomers to orienteering (how to use a compass, reading the map, etc.)
- Picking up controls after this event.
Please contact davidtrb@live.ca or the event director if you are able to help out with any of these tasks. Thanks!
