Cultural District Training Kelowna
October 10th 2019 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Organizers: Chris Pedersen (Event Director), Chris Pedersen (Course Planner), David Bakker (Controller)
Map: Cultural District
This fall in Kelowna we are organizing a series of lowkey orienteering trainings on some existing maps and a couple of new areas. They are beginner friendly, but also have longer options. Expect two courses at each training - a shorter, easier course that is suitable for beginners and families, as well as a longer more technical course for everyone else. Please remember this is entirely volunteer organized, so please pitch in to help out if you can. The more volunteers we get - the longer into the fall we can keep this series going.
Schedule:
- 6:00 - Sign In, Beginner Instructions, and Registration Starts
- 6:15 -Last Start
- 7:30 - Courses Close
Meeting Location:
In the parking lot right next to the dolphins statue.
Safety:
There
are a few safety considerations on this map, including significant vehicle traffic. Please wear highly visible/reflective clothing and consider bringing a headlight.
Registration:
Registration is now open. The earlier that you register, the easier it is for us to print enough maps.
Timing/Results:
This
is a series of low key orienteering events using simple temporary
markers and no electronic timing. If you wish to record your own time
and route using a watch, phone, or GPS please feel free. We will endeavour to post times of those who participated and report their times.
You MUST still check in at the finish so that we know you are out of
the woods and do not start looking for you.
Cost:
There is no cost to participate in these trainings, however membership in the Sage Orienteering Club is required.
Membership:
2018 Membership in Sage Orienteering Club is required to cover insurance. This membership covers you for any orienteering event in Canada, including Sage events throughout the interior and the Sage Orienteering Club Championships this fall in Salmon Arm. The costs for new membership are:
- $5/Junior
