Mission Creek Park - Kelowna Spring Training Kelowna
March 26th 2026 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Organizer: Simon Bakker (Event Director)
Map: Mission Creek Park
Minor Location Change:
We are meeting in the grassy field across from the environmental centre (south-west end of the parking lot), NOT the north-east end of the parking lot as initially planned.
Overview
Welcome to our Kelowna spring training series! We have two trainings on Thursday evenings, a week off for the Easter weekend, and then two more trainings planned in April. More might be added afterwards too. These low-key orienteering activities will happen Thursday evening at 6:00pm at a different location in the Kelowna area. There will be both beginner and advanced courses, so there is something for everyone and their family.
Terrain
We are back in Mission Creek for an on trails only event. The regional district does not any off trail traffic in their park system, regardless of environment impact, so staying on trail is a condition of our permit. There is still a dense, squiggly trail network, so use your brain to solve for the shortest (and flattest) route, but expect entirely a trail run this week. We'll be back in the forest next week outside of park boundaries, so save your off trail exploring for then.
Meeting Location
Grassy field next to the parking lot at the SW end of the marking lot. See map pin at the bottom of the page (updated March 24th).
Registration
If you registered for the spring training series once, you are good to show up without registering for subsequent weeks.
Please register as soon as possible, and no later than Wednesday evening, the night before the activity, so that we know roughly how many participants to expect and can print enough maps. We will print a few extra maps, so if you don't register in time we may still have a map for you.
Cost
- No cost for Sage Orienteering Club members
- $5 for visitors from other Canadian and international orienteering clubs
Sage orienteering club membership is required, which costs $10/adult for the year and cheaper prices for kids. Membership is required to fulfill our insurance obligations. We try and keep costs to a bare minimum while still paying for insurance and map printing. Everybody here is a volunteer doing our best. If you are able to make a donation to help cover some map printing costs or for other equipment, it would also be much appreciated.
