Overview

This first event of the 2024 Kelowna orienteering calendar takes place on the trial network of Mission Creek Regional Park.

This will be a great introductory event for families and beginners, with an optional additional challenge of a Memory-O for more experienced orienteers!

Due to permitting restrictions in accordance with park bylaws and conservation efforts, this will be an ON-TRAILS-ONLY event! But don't worry, the trail network has enough density and complexity to make for some interesting route choices and challenges.

Schedule

Sunday, April 7: In-person activity with on-site help and socializing.

  • 09:45 -- Check-in opens with help and coaching available.
  • 10:00-13:00 -- Do the course on your own while the event staff are on-site.

Registration

Online registration is now closed. You will be able to register for the event on-site with cash.

Event Fees:

  • Adult: $5
  • Junior: $2

Location and Parking

The check-in/start/finish location is in Mission Creek Regional Park next to the public washroom building, near the EECO Centre and playground.

There is ample parking in the park.

Courses

Controls will be marked in the terrain using standard orienteering control flags. We expect to have both a short and a longer course, with the option to do the longer course as a Memory-O.

  • Short / Beginner: 1.5 km (as the crow flies)
  • Longer / Memory-O: 2.9 km (as the crow flies)
